Ahlulbayt News Agency: Sheikh of Al-Azhar Ahmed Al-Tayeb honored Maryam Abdel Aziz, a visually-impaired memorizer of the Holy Quran.
Abdel Aziz, who is a student of Al-Azhar University, has managed to memorize the entire Quran despite her loss of vision.
Praising her, Sheikh al-Tayeb pointed to Maryam’s strong will and scientific and Quranic excellence, and described her as a role model for Al-Azhar students and people with lofty ideals, Basrakha reported.
He praised the Al-Azhar student’s mastery of the rules of recitation and Tajweed, emphasizing that what she has achieved is a shining example of excellence and distinction, and a testament to the fact that determination and will are capable of overcoming difficulties and achieving great achievements.
Al-Tayeb encouraged the Egyptian student to be steadfast in her scientific and Quranic activities and strive for greater success, and appreciated the role of her mother and family in supporting her.
Emphasizing the need to support this enlightened Egyptian poet and to provide her with educational and livelihood needs in order to achieve her future aspirations, he stated that Al-Azhar is always seeking to empower individuals with lofty ideals and provide opportunities for excellence and creativity in all scientific and religious fields.
Recently, the international conference on “Utilizing Religious and Media Discourse and Its Impact on Preserving and Promoting Women’s Rights in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Countries” opened in Egypt with the recitation of the Quran by Maryam Abdel Aziz.
